This article aims to answer the following question, what is the best business to start with little money?
It’s an interesting question and one I’ve been looking forward to writing about.
There are so many people out there that don’t like their current working position. Most would prefer to build a business for themselves, and who can blame them?
My name is Nick, and three years ago I was in exactly that position.
I hated my job, I knew I wanted change but I had little money and no real idea of what I could do to change my situation.
I was constantly asking myself, “What is the best business to start with little money?”, at the time I didn’t have a lot of spare money to be pumping into a new business idea!
If you are in this position, the chances are that you are working pretty hard as it is, alongside this how are you supposed to find the time to start a business on the side?
I understand, I really do! As I’ve said, I have been there.
This is one of the main reasons i decided to start writing these type of articles, by doing so I hope to provide you with useful ideas to start your journey towards freedom.
I have built a number of different, online businesses over the years, and I think I am well suited to advise you on the best business to start if you have little money.
I discovered affiliate marketing about two years ago, I’ll be honest, up to that point I had no idea what affiliate marketing even meant! You may or may not have heard about it, let me explain how to works.
How does affiliate marketing work?
With affiliate marketing, there is no need for you to have your own product. The role of an affiliate marketer is to sell another merchants product.
When a sale is made, the affiliate will earn a commission and that is how affiliate marketing works.
Pretty simple stuff. There are many different ways it can be done, popular options include:
- Building affiliate websites
- Growing an audience through social media (influencers)
- YouTube Marketing
- Email Marketing
The wonderful thing about affiliate marketing is that you do not have the stress or responsibility of building your own product.
You do however, have the responsibility of learning how to market other people’s products, effectively.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an intermediate level marketer, there is always rooms for improvement.
If you want to learn about affiliate marketing there are a number of different options out there. I make the most of free resources, I’ll provide you with a few options within the next section of this article.
Best business to start with little money?
In my opinion, building an affiliate website is the best way to start affiliate marketing, it might sound complicated and difficult but I bet you’d surprise yourself, if you gave it a go.
When I started affiliate marketing, I used affiloramas free training, its evolved in a really positive way over the last fews years so the content is even better.
The training provides video tutorials to help you build your site, step by step. If this sounds interesting to you, you might want to read my full affilorama review.
I had little money available when I started building my first online business, and this is why I’ve been excited about writing this article. Let me provide you with an overview of the process along with the associated costs of building your own affiliate site:
1) Choosing a profitable niche – Free
2) Find a domain name – cost: up to $20 for the year for the year – I recommend using godaddy
3) Get hosting for your site – cost: up to $70 for the year (i use siteground, for all of my websites)
4) Install a content management system – Free (I like WordPress)
5) Install a suitable theme – Free (I love generate press!)
7) Find products to write reviews on – Free
8) Write supporting articles – Free
9) Optimise & Promote – Free
10) Its up to you what you do with the money you make
These ten steps could open up a whole world of possibilities for you, the above steps should cost you under $100 for the year! That’s under $10 a month. Best business to start with little money? That’s right, you should think about building an affiliate website.
I want to share a few more useful resources that you can start using for free, these should help you learn more about affiliate marketing.
Free useful resources
So we have mentioned Affilorama, this is more of a training portal but it’s full of really useful free content. You can create a free account and make use of the free video tutorials. On the subject of really useful free content, let’s talk about another useful free tool.
If you want to learn about anything, the chances are, you can do it on Youtube.
If you get stuck on a question, I can almost guarantee you can find the answer on Youtube. It’s a wonderful platform and there are many affiliate marketers making use of its popularity.
How many times have you turned to YouTube to see how things work?
If you have, you might notice that most videos have a purpose, they will show you something of interest and towards the end of the video you will be directed to a related link in the description.
The majority of the time, this is an affiliate link, if you were to visit the link and make a purchase, the maker of the video would make a commission.
This is another popular method with affiliate marketers.
Why not give it a try for yourself?
All you need to do, is find a product to promote, grab an affiliate link for the product, record a video of you reviewing the product, post to Youtube with the affiliate link in the description.
If your video is useful, people might even subscribe to your Youtube channel!
Finding products to promote
So, you want to build an affiliate website, but you don’t know where to find products? Don’t worry I’ve got you covered. Affiliate marketing programs help manage the relationship between the merchant and the affiliate, so you need to find a reputable program.
My favourite affiliate program to use is Clickbank, its free to sign up and they have a good selection of products to promote.
Here is a list of further affiliate programs you may wish to check out;
These programs are all fairly popular, I prefer Clickbank because the signing up procedure is very simple.
Some of these affiliate programs have certain requirements and will request a lot of information.
– Music Lessons
– Singing Lessons
– Dog Training
– Make Money Online
– Pet accessories
– Online Jobs
– Healthy Eating
– Teeth Care
– Stop Smoking
The ideas are endless, my advice is to find and list a few ideas that interest you.
Once you have a shortlist of about five or six, carry out some research to qualify your niche.
Keyword research is hugely important, the aim is to find keywords that are easy to rank in the search engines, then build up related articles around those keywords.
This will bring in traffic!
Best Business To Start With Little Money?
In my opinion, the best business to start with little money is: an Affiliate marketing business.
This type of marketing can be done in different ways, my personal favourite is building affiliate websites.
These websites can be worth their weight in gold.
If you have set up your site up correctly, you can benefit from passive income, whilst you focus on the things you like doing.
I agree this method is not a get rich quick scheme, it takes some time and effort. Being able to write is an important part of this business.
Learning how to write effective articles isn’t as difficult as you might think. I encourage you to write your own articles, the more you do, the better you will get.
I want to provide you with a few tips on how to write better copy.
If you are writing a product review, or any type of article, imagine you are talking to a friend.
In the past I have written articles, with a picture of a friend on my desk, this can help you relax and write in a more conventional, chatty style.
Another useful tip is to talk into a Dictaphone, you don’t have to write articles using your hands.
I have recorded some of my best work on a Dictaphone, some people are better writers, some are better talkers, we all have our strengths.
The best business to start with a small amount of money is something that you can build on, a website gives you this option.
When your website starts to generate traffic, you can monetize it in many different ways.
You can direct visitors to an affiliate product, an email list, social media accounts, maybe you have a future product planned within your niche?
Building a website allows you to build an audience, if you focus on good content, the sales will come.
Think about it, if you go to a website and buy a product you don’t like, who wins?
You might think the seller, as you have given them your money, but I don’t agree, if you aren’t happy with the product or experience you are unlikely to return and the relationship is over.
If every visitor feels like this, the site won’t be successful.
So, focus on giving the customer what they are looking for, if they are searching for the answer to a particular question, you will want to make sure your article (or product) answers it.
