Amazon’s speedy delivery is a big part of why they’re such a popular online marketplace. With so many sellers and products, you can’t help but wonder: how does Amazon ship so fast?
I will answer this question and more in this blog.
How Does Amazon Ship So Fast?
In some cases, Amazon delivers on the same day; next-day delivery is also very common now in most countries. This capability hasn’t come overnight; it’s the result of a very well-organized, well-funded worldwide operation.
Amazon’s supply chain and logistics operations are streets ahead of anyone else; their warehouse network is spread worldwide. They have some of the best people and most advanced fulfillment systems driving their day-to-day operations.
The more warehouses Amazon has, the more products they can store closer to you; this makes it easier to ship a wider variety to you faster.
Amazon is a 24-7, 365 operation, and they are only getting bigger.
With their FBA program’s help, third-party sellers and vendors also benefit from their lightning-fast delivery speeds.
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) involves sellers sending their entire inventory to an Amazon fulfillment center. Any time an order comes in, the products are immediately shipped from the closest warehouse.
If you’re a regular on Amazon, you may have already seen that one-day shipping is an option. This means in 24 hours; your order will arrive on your doorstep. However, it’s only free if you’re a Prime member.
A Prime order valued at over $35 and only contains products with the Amazon Same Day Delivery logo is eligible for one-day delivery. The order should also be placed before the one-day shipping cut-off time, and the address needs to have an eligible ZIP code.
The same criteria apply to non-Prime orders, but one-day delivery will cost you a small fee.
Is Amazon one-day shipping guaranteed, though?
Delivery is only guaranteed on select products and delivery speeds. Once you place an order, whether or not one-day delivery is guaranteed is indicated at checkout.
The good news is that if Amazon guarantees a delivery date, but you don’t receive your product, any shipping fees are refunded.
If you want more details, you can read through their Guaranteed Delivery Terms and Conditions.
There is also a two-day shipping option. This means you can expect to receive your order two business days after your order ships. This won’t include Saturdays or Sundays.

How to Become an Amazon Prime Seller
If you’re interested in becoming a Prime seller, there are two options to choose from:
-
Seller Fulfilled Prime (SFP)
If you choose to fulfill your own orders, you can hop onto the Amazon Prime SFP waiting list. To be a part of this program, you need to ensure you can fulfill orders quickly.
I also highly recommend you look into Amazon’s approved shipping partners to find a good match in the meantime.
Once Amazon moves you off the waiting list, you will enter a trial period, so make you’re prepared. To be approved for the program during the trial period, you need to have an on-time shipping rate of 99% and offer premium shipping options.
Your cancellation rate needs to be less than 0.5%, and deliver your orders through one of Amazon’s approved partners.
Unfortunately, there is no way to tell how long the trial period will continue. Once you’re approved, though, an Amazon Prime badge is added to your listings.
-
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)
I will say that the FBA program is a far less stressful way to become an Amazon Prime seller. When you sign up for Amazon Prime as an FBA seller, your products are automatically considered – no waiting list or trial period required.
As an FBA seller, you’ll automatically be given a Prime Badge.
To stay in the program, you’ll need good seller performance metrics consistently. Make sure you are complying with Amazon’s product and listing policies and adhering to their storage limits.
Hopefully, this article has helped you understand how Amazon ship their products so fast.
