Unicorn Smasher – Why Top Amazon Sellers Are Using It

In order to figure out the best product to sell on Amazon, you need to be able to analyze the condition of the market, evaluate what your competitors are doing and look at what type of demand you can fulfill. Unicorn Smasher is a free Chrome extension designed to simplify your product research process by providing you with essential and useful data.

Sellers can save themselves weeks of manual research by using an extension that has already collected, and continues to collect, all the data they need. There are so many factors to consider when engaging in product research that it’s easy to get lost in mountains of data without coming to any real conclusions. Unicorn Smasher reduces the risk of analysis paralysis.

In this review, we look at the basic functions of Unicorn Smasher, the accuracy of the data it provides, and how to get started with the software.

What Does Unicorn Smasher Do?

Unicorn Smasher is a free product research tool that can be downloaded simply by providing your name and email address. It provides a host of features, including:

Comprehensive Dashboard

The dashboard is probably one of the best features of this tool. It organizes your research and product data into different categories. Some of the categories include brand, price, product rankings, number of current sellers, potential revenue and sales, and more. You can save your favorite searches and filter data to view specific information more easily. There’s also the option of exporting files into a CSV format for later use.

For any filtered searches you’ve run, click on the “Add to Dashboard” option to view them instantly the next time you log in.

Detailed Sales Figures

Besides telling you the rating and demand for a variety of products, Unicorn Smasher also gives users suggested prices. These suggested selling prices are based on competitor and market research. When your prices are more competitive, they’re automatically more appealing to potential customers. The tool generates figures based on historical data from the same industry so that you start off on the right foot.

Variation Data

As a Unicorn Smasher user, you get access to metrics and statistics that look at product variation data. This data can be used to stay abreast of the latest market trends and apply them to your product and sales strategies.

Revenue Figures

While Unicorn Smasher provides users with sales estimates, it also runs algorithms that generate a range of revenue figures. These revenue figures will give you a clearer idea of the kind of income you can expect from the products you intend to sell and the market you’ll be operating in.

Canonical URLs

Canonical links are meant to prevent the duplication of content, ensuring the original product/the one that is the top seller, actually ranks at number one. Through this, users can trust that Unicorn Smasher shows accurate product rankings.

Quick Links

Access your product listings directly from your dashboard by enabling quick links. Speed up the product research process and save time.

AMZ Tracker Integration

Given that Unicorn Smasher is designed by the makers of AMZ Tracker, this feature is somewhat of a given. The AMZ Tracker allows sellers to track the keywords that competitor products rank for as well as negative reviews and SEO optimization. Basically, any changes that competitors make that boost sales can be tracked. With the AMZ Tracker working in tandem with Unicorn Smasher’s in-browser analyzer, you can keep track of your product rankings on Amazon and devise strategies to get to the top spot.

Google Chrome Extension

The software can be integrated into Google Chrome so that you can receive software updates, information on new features, and any product data that you wish to access, instantly.

How Accurate is Unicorn Smasher?

The main concern most users have with Unicorn Smasher is that in terms of product rankings, sponsored items get first priority. This means the ranking system is not organic. At the end of the day, no matter how quick and easy the software is to use, the end goal is to get accurate data that helps you make sound business decisions.

It has been found that Unicorn Smasher generally provides revenue and sales estimates that are at the lower end of the spectrum. That being said, it’s not all bad, since underestimating might actually result in you making more of a profit than you anticipated.

Paid options like Jungle Scout check inventory levels of products to provide more accurate sales figures over a period of time. Jungle Scout also makes use of hundreds of millions of data points and renowned data scientists to get the most accurate estimates possible.

For users who don’t find Unicorn Smasher to be as accurate as they’d like, other popular alternatives include Helium 10 or Viral Launch.

Currently these two are my favorite alternatives.

A little while ago i compared a lot of these tools to understand once and for all which was most accurate.

If you want a more detailed comparison of these alternatives, read our reviews of Jungle Scout vs Helium 10 and Jungle Scout vs Viral Launch.

Keepa is another option that you can use to obtain data on products, including bestsellers.

However, while this software used to be free, it has now become a paid extension, so keep that in mind.

For those sellers who need mapped-out evaluations and detailed guidance when it comes to figuring out which products are most profitable, software programs like Jungle Scout offer more features at a higher price than Unicorn Smasher.

Using the Unicorn Smasher Extension For Free

Downloading and using the Unicorn Smasher extension is pretty easy, but you might find yourself landing on the paid version, so here’s a guide to using it for free:

Once you’re on the Unicorns Smasher website, click on the “Get Unicorn Smasher” button and enter your name and email address in the window that pops up.

Unicorn Smasher Sign up

Completing this stage of the sign-up process usually directs you to Unicorn Smasher Pro, which you need to pay for beforehand. Look through the Google Chrome Store to find the free version. Once you click on “Add to Chrome,” it will start installing automatically. You’ll know it’s integrated with Chrome when an AMZ logo appears on Chrome in the top right corner.

You’re now ready to start using the software. Start off by opening Amazon in your browser and entering the product name you’re interested in. Click on the Unicorn Smasher/AMZ icon – this will open a pop-up window. This pop-up will show product information such as the name, variations, sellers, price, ranking, estimated revenue and sales figures.

In order to save this data, click the CSV button in the right lower corner to export the information. The option of adding it to your dashboard is available for paid users.

At this point, you can also apply filters to the information to find what’s most relevant to you, including product reviews, price, and more.

Unicorn Smasher Pro

Most of Unicorn Smasher’s features are free, but the data results you get in the paid version are more accurate. Moreover, the paid version also allows you to add an opportunity score to your product data. An opportunity score shows how suitable a product is for Amazon, which further increases the chances of you being a successful seller.

There are 3 types of opportunity scores:

  1. Low: This indicates a saturated market with plenty of competition and many variants that are already available. Revenue earnings are expected to be low.
  2. Medium: With a Medium opportunity score, your chances of being a success are 50/50.
  3. High: A high opportunity score indicates that a product isn’t readily available, there is less competition, and you have a higher opportunity to successfully penetrate the market.

If you intend to become a large-scale seller on Amazon, this feature will be important. Otherwise, pretty much all the basic figures and statistics that the free version offers is more than enough to be successful.

Bottom Line

Amazon remains a digital marketplace leader. Both sellers and consumers trust it and are attracted to the large variety of products that are available. (Find out more about Amazon’s current status).

If you’re interested in generating revenue via an eCommerce platform, it’s essential that you have the right data on hand. Using software like Unicorn Smasher, you can find out if the niche you intend to operate in and the product/s you wish to sell actually have a place and the potential to get higher rankings on Amazon. This type of software also helps you browse for more profitable options and provides relatively accurate sales figures that lower financial risks.

Unicorn Smasher is ideal for sellers in the UK and the US. An important factor to note is that the software only provides raw data, and sellers need to be able to evaluate it in order to make wise business decisions. With the ease of access it offers, Unicorn Smasher is suitable for any seller, provided they’re good at analyzing product information and using the data to create a profitable venture on Amazon.

If you want my personal opinion, although i feel that unicorn smasher would work for some i don’t think i’d choose to use it…

In my experience I’ve always got what I’ve paid for in the long run, if you are building a serious business i’d consider using one of the other alternatives i mentioned earlier on in the article.

Good luck!
